Drachman's School Counseling Program
Drachman's Montessori's community nurtures the whole child. Together we guide and empower one another toward individual excellence. As responsible and peaceful citizens of the world, we honor our cosmic task.
In line with the Drachman K8 Vision, the Counseling Department strives to providing a comprehensive, responsive, and preventative program that supports student social-emotional, academic, and career development. Your child will receive whole class counseling that will support our schools mission that, "We are Responsible and Peaceful!". Students will receive classroom lessons that are aimed at teaching skills such as conflict management, social skill-building, decision making, and emotional regulation.
Additional counseling services will be offered through student support groups. These groups are designed for students who may need more specialized support in a smaller group-format. Small Groups will typically meet weekly for 30-minutes and will typically have 5-6 students.
Students will also be offered individual counseling for students who need brief check-ins and solution-focused interventions.

Confidentiality:The very first lesson I have every class goes over confidentiality. As a school counselor, I am responsible for keeping the information that I discuss with students confidential. I will not share specific information about my work with parents, other students, teachers, or other interested parties without the consent of the student. HOWEVER, students do learn that there are instances in which I would be REQUIRED to break confidentiality.
If a student shares:

Confidentiality and privacy are very important foundations for an effective counseling relationship. Confidentiality ensures that school counselors will not share student information with others, unless they authorize it or there is a clear and present danger to the student and/or others.
